Kāru Collective

Kāru began with a name. Developed by Humid Studio, it draws from two languages simultaneously; Sanskrit kāru, meaning artisan or maker, and Japanese karui, meaning light in weight or feel. One name holding both the craft and the feeling. From there, the strategy established a single master brand to house Kāru's three offerings; meditation, yoga, and sauna, ensuring all recognition and equity builds in one place, designed for a mainstream audience who want evidence-based wellness tools, not a spiritual identity.

The visual identity flows directly from the name's roots. The custom wordmark references the shape of styluses used to inscribe Sanskrit onto palm leaves, with bevelled serif corners mimicking the tip of the tool and letterform angles drawn from Sanskrit script. The brandmark is the fan palm leaf itself – the ancient material those manuscripts were written on. Grounded in an earthy palette of inky darks, warm terracottas, and natural neutrals, the result is a brand system with genuine conceptual depth; cohesive, considered, and built to grow.
